Safety

Every plan ends with everyone home.

In danger right now?
Call 112

Quorum SOS tells your friends. It doesn’t replace emergency services. If you’re in danger, call 112 first.

SOS

In the Quorum app. Your chosen friends get your live location the moment you need them, not a vague “are you ok?” an hour later.

  1. 01

    Pick your people

Choose up to three friends as SOS contacts. They have to accept, so nobody is signed up without knowing.

  2. 02

    Hold for 10 seconds

Hold the SOS button for a full ten seconds. The long hold is on purpose: a pocket tap never sets it off.

  3. 03

    They see where you are

Their phones buzz with a long alert and open a full-screen map of your live location, refreshed every few seconds, with how fresh it is.

  4. 04

    They answer

Each contact can tell you "I’m on my way", get directions to you, message you or call emergency services. You see who has seen it.

  5. 05

    You end it

Hold "I’m safe" for two seconds when it’s over. Your SOS screen also has one-tap calls to 112 and 10111 the whole time.

You’re in control

Live location is off by default

Turn it on and your friends can see where you are while Quorum is open. Pick exactly which friends, or none. Blocked people never can. Turn it off and your location is deleted, not just hidden.

Block anyone

A blocked person can’t send you friend requests and stops appearing in your searches.

Report a plan

Anything off about a plan? Report it from the plan page with a reason, and it goes straight to the Quorum team to review.

You choose who sees a plan

Plans are shared with the people you invite. Only plans you make public are visible to other signed-in users.

Good habits for a night out

  • Share the plan, not just the vibe

Put the time and the place in the plan, so the people who aren’t coming still know where you are and when you should be back.

  • First meet in a public place

New people from a public plan? Meet somewhere busy first. Places shows venues with ratings and real reviews so you can pick one.

  • Check the car before you get in

On e-hailing, match the licence plate, car colour, driver photo and name with the app, use the PIN if offered, and share your trip with a friend.

  • Agree how everyone gets home

Sort lifts while you plan, not at midnight. Quorum plans have a lifts list for exactly this.

South Africa’s
emergency numbers

Save them now, not later

Government has proposed folding 10111 and 10177 into a single 112 number (gazetted for comment, November 2024). Until that happens, all three work. Sources: GroundUp, 1Life, BusinessTech.

Something wrong?
